Worth Checking Out: Phantom of the Opera

Bloomberg News gave it a raving review. It has been seen by more than 130 million people in the world and has won over 50 major theatre awards including three Olivier Award. Phantom of the Opera is Broadway’s longest running show ever and has been considered one of the best shows of all time. In fact, it is the only Broadway show to ever celebrate anniversaries through 18 to 25 years.

Confounded by his physical appearance and terrified by all, the Phantom hides in the imposing and grandeur of the Paris Opera House. His love for the striking Christine Daaé is so passionate that even her heart cannot resist.

With Andrew Lloyd Webber’s enthralling music score, it is said that audiences will be left mesmerized till the very end of the last scene.

Michael Crawford born in Salisbury, Wiltshire made his professional debut in Benjamin Britten’s Let’s Make An Opera. His first appearance on Broadway in 1967 with Black Comedy, which he won the Theatre Award for the ‘Most Out- standing Performance.’

Making her theatrical debut in I and Albert at the Piccadilly Theatre at the age of thirteen, Sarah Brightman joined the group Hot Gossip, directing them to the top of the charts with her record ‘I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper’. She claims that her role in The Phantom of the Opera has proven to be one of the best experience of her life.
